Fellow member Mark Daugherty and I made our first visit to this new club lake yesterday and were blessed with great weather and a great day of fishing.  Morning was foggy and overcast and calm then late morning the sun came out and we had partly cloudy and mild breezy conditions gettiing into the low 90’s.  The water started at 82 degrees getting up to 88 in the afternoon.  Water in both lakes was murky green with about 12” of visibility, and besides the brushy stickups along much of the shorline, we didn’t find any grass or vegitation to speak of in either lake.  There is quite a bit of this brush as well as laydowns and brushpiles especially in the smaller lake, and this is what produced just about all our fish.  They were in the cover or were not interested in any other part of the lake, and this led to us getting hung up even with our “weedless” techniques more than has ever happened in a single trip.  We were almost always able to get unstuck, but bring your patience and be willing to put your worm in the middle of it all.  We started fishing right at sunup, caught nothing from the bank around the launch area using topwaters.  Took my Bass Raider out and kept throwing topwaters for a good while, but no interest at all.  We worked our way past the pier toward the shallow end and around and caught a couple after switching to Tx rig, and then we took the cut and moved into the smaller lake to check it out.  We found willing fish there on Tx rigged curly tail worms and shakey head worms (especially in Junebug).  Mark also had a good stretch of  hits on a light weight wobble head with a Z-craw in watermelon seed w/ a chartreuse dipped tail.  We took a lunch break and then fished from the right side of the cut through around to the dam area, and again mostly found willing fish in the brushy stick ups along the edge.  The fish would not chase any moving baits, and we did not catch a single fish out in open water.  I caught the 4lb10oz biggest fish in the smaller lake in one of the submerged trees on the shakey head.  We harvested 21 and they were all just right at 14 inches and chunky strong fighters.  Don’t know the exact number caught, but it was probably close to 40 with a few 2+ pounds.  Lures tried without any success were chatterbait, spinnerbait, popper, plopper, frog, mid crankbait, and a swimbait on an underspin.  This is an absolutely stunning property, and thanks to the land owner and PWF for the opportunity to fish there.
