Reservation Number : 40304
Property Name : Double A Lake
Reservation Date : 06/28/2024 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 23
Lures Used : frog, popmax, fluke, trig

Sun up to sun down day and caught almost all of them on topwater (frog and popmax). Most of the action was in the morning.

Almost all the culls were right at 16” and they were nice and healthy. Majority returned were 3-4 lbs, with about 3 5 pounders.

Best action was actually the south side right by the boat ramp and the west side along the weedlines (on the points). The north west corner held some good numbers too. Strangely I couldn’t catch many on the east side, I’m guessting most of them were probably deeper in the drop offs. Wind was blowing mainly to the north, and I was able to see schools of very small shad (maybe 1-2 inches) all throughout the weedline. Couldn’t get a bite with an underspin, which was disappointing.

Other rigs that I used was chatterbait, shakey head, and drop shot, all of them caught me one each, with the chatterbait yielding a good 3lber, the others were culls. Tried a wobblehead, but had a hard time with it. Too lazy and didn’t have the confidence to rig a deep diving crank to try the deeper parts, especially when I forgot to bring my garmin.

I had my kayak so I was able to go over the weedlines to get to the open pockets closer to the bank, and there were some good ones there too.

Was overheated so I packed up and headed into ‘town’ for 2 hours to cool off and went back out just before sunset.

It’s not uncommon to land a 5lber, so if you’re interested in landing some good ones, Double A is a great spot. I know there are bigger ones in here, but they’ll most likely be in deeper waters.

Looking forward to coming back here soon.

Great report Jason and must have been a fun time catching all those fish on a frog.
