At the social mixer at Tailwaters, several members told me to try Triple J.  I had asked for recommendations for a strong shore fishing spot as a possilbe place to take my Father as he can no longer, due to his balance, get in a boat with me.  I was told it was failry flat ground with easy access almost all the way around, and of course, good consistent fishing.  So, yesterday my wife and I went there.  We got a late start, didn’t get to the lake until about 10:40am and we ended up leaving just before 3pm.  The fishing was great, we only left as early as we did becasue with the heat and humidity my wife felt a light headed.  We took a cooler with lunch and water but she still got a little dehydrated.  We needed more water.  (My fault, I usually pack the cooler with water and Gatorade, but I only threw a couple of bottles in for us. Don’t make my mistake during warm weather, or you’ll find yourself leaving when you want to stay.)

It was overcast when we first got there and she threw the Buzzbaits and I threw the Frog.  She caught 5 Bass and the 1 Crappie and I caught 2 Bass ( I missed another 6 blowups).  After the first hour or so the wind picked up a little and we switched, her to the General and I threw a Fluke.  She starting catching right away, and end up with 12 fish on Generals, sticking wiht that bait the rest of the time.  I caught 1 Bass on the Fluke and then changed to a weedless Trick Worm and finished the remainder of our time catching fish every few casts it seemd over the last hour, landing my last 7 Bass.

We fished in three spots only, just on the east side of the lake.  Putting in a full day here would have yielded a really high fish count.  The fish were sold 2 to 3 pounders, with just a few dinks that we brought home and the 1 Crappie.  My wife did have a much bigger bass hooked that took her into some wood and borke her off.  I’ll defintely be back in the future.  Thanks to to all the members that clued me into this spot.
