My son and I hit the water at daybreak under mostly cloudy conditions with no wind. Fished the East side of the lake where bass appeared to be feeding on top. Tried several top waters - pop R; frogs, hula popper, but couldn’t get a strike. Son switched to watermelon red brush hog and me a green lizard and worked our away along the North shore toward the west end. The brush hog started working near the dam as my son jumped out to an early lead with two just under 16” and one over. we didn’t get much action along the dam so we moved to the center of the lake as the sun began to break through the clouds I picked up a dink, a crappie, and 20” on a baby bass rattle trap. My son picked up one more 17” on the brush hog in the middle of the lake right under the boat. We had several nice fish that didn’t make it to the boat, one felt real heavy!! Around 10:30 the bite went quiet and the heat was building so we called it a day. All in all a great morning on the lake with my favorite fishing buddy! This was our first trip to Triple J - Great lake! easy to get too and very healthy fish!!
