Fished this property AM (6:30-12) on July 6th.  The morning top water bite was on with a torpedo/prop bait (black/orange).  Tried a hula popper and a mouse, but not takers.  After that bite stopped, I had some success with a suspending jerk bait (silver/blue).

I did have good success with mid-diving cranks (white and green/chart).  Again, I could see plenty of fish deep (12-20 ft) and tried several deep-diving cranks and jerk baits, but not takers.  I caught about 18 with 3 over 14”.

The water level is up another 2 ft and water clarity is 3-5 ft.  There are several good inside and outside grass edges, but I could not get anything to bite.

If anyone has figured out how to get the deep ones to bite at this location, I would like to know.

Bill I only fished this site once but I watched the owners grandson use a chrome and blue rattletrap and he knocked them dead. Of course I went to the trap and was successful too. I also had good luck on a half ounce willow and Colorado white spinner bait along the dam.  When I was using plastics I was catching nothing but 12 inch fish.  Thank God for the grandson otherwise I wouldn’t have found the big fish.

Thanks. I have had luck with a rattletrap, but not this time. Still not getting the deep ones to bite. Next time I plan to use a jigging spoon and carolina rig.
