It was certainly good to see Rock Chimney at full pool after the recent rains.  The summer and fall drought had really impacted the fishing in this pond.  Bob Scheidemann and I had a very slow start until I finally found a pattern with a green squarebill along the southern shoreline.  That pattern only lasted around an hour while Bob couldn’t get anything going with soft plastics.  He relocated to the northern shoreline and quickly found that a green craw on a shakey head fished close to the bank was what they wanted.  I need to clarify that it was only acceptable if presented by Bob.  I went hours without a bass while Bob and his winning lure consistently caught a few fish at each spot.  I finally started picking up a few more in the afternoon (including the 4# big for the day) using a green creature bait.  We ended up landing 30 bass ,14”-19.5”, with no small ones.  The green craw on a shakey head was the clear winner for the day.  We had a quick visit with Mr. Stanley and had a canine companion for part of the morning.  One of Bob’s brightly colored rod socks proved irresistable to a resident calf.

Water temperature reached 63 in the afternoon.  No bedding signs.  Bass were healthy and fat.
