Took PTO on Friday to go out and do some crappie fishing with my Dad who recently joined PWF. This was our first outing together and we were hoping to get into some crappie but the fish had other plans. We were on the water just after 8:00am and used the nice jon boat to scoot around the lake for the day. The lake has less than 12” of visibility. Forgot to record air and water temps.

We mostly fished the high percentage areas – around the docks, between the islands, and around the boat ramp but simply couldn't find the fish. The upcoming cold front may have had something to do with this. We are still dusting off some of the fishing cobwebs and rust so an experienced angler may have had better luck. This lake definitely holds some big bass as others will tell you.

The geese were not too happy with us around their islands but it was cool seeing them argue and tussle with each other. We both caught a bass that was culled.

We still had a great time together. We will be back when the fishing season kicks off in a few weeks to give it another try. As Dad said – “a bad day of fishing is always better than a good day at work.”

Thanks to PWF and the landowners for allowing us to fish.

Tight Lines, all!

I bet the crappie will start spawning there 2nd week of March. That lake has some good crappie in it as well as decent bass size and numbers

Forgot, there will be a whole lot of gees there the next few months. Had to be at least a hundred there in 2022  spring. They are noisy and have an attitude

I couldn’t image the fuss 100 geese would cause! The 20 that watched us fish were not exactly happy with our presence but did quiet down for a few hours mid-day. We will be back to give it another try.
