Got on the water about 7am. Absolutely beautiful calm morning. The water temp was around 81 degrees.
Spinner baits were the bait of the day, though shallow crank baits were good if you could keep them above the grass/weeds. There is a patch on the East end of the lake where there is about 6-8 feet of clear water, other than that spot the grass comes up to about 3-4 feet.
Between 7 and Noon we caught around 35 fish.
I threw frogs on the junk around the edges and hooked the largest bass I have ever seen. My guess is it was 9+ lbs and it just destroyed the frog. Can’t say I landed it, but had it up next to the kayak and was trying to grab it when it spit the hook. A few crappie and some bluegill on the spinners, but otherwise all bass. Most were 14” or under. I landed a 20 inch fish on my last cast.
A big old bull came over to the truck to visit about the time we were taking the boats out, so we hung out a bit until he wandered off.
Overall a great trip.
