My brother Roderick and I,  thought we would try out Bennett Lake for a big bass but biggest was 18 inches. Like previous report about the grass it's choked out all around the banks. We could only use scum frogs or rage tails to trigger a bite. We caught 17 Bass in all and released 3 that was over. Since we got tired of clearing the grass off the trolling motor we searched for crappie in  deeper and grass free. We eventually found them by accident. How you asked? After switching jigs and just throwing it over the side before casting,  my bell was still open and the jig kept falling right into a fish mouth because when I closed the bell my line was pulling away, I set the hook and it was a crappie.  My brother dropped is straight down and bam another one. We were right on top of them until they moved away.  We don't know what held them there because of no structure around but they did. We trying to learn about Crappie fishing so this is a new one on us. We caught 35 Crappie. The water is still low and we had to move some tree limbs and branches out the way going to the lake. All and all not a bad day making memories with my brother.
