Got to try out Big Lake on 10/2. It's beautifully laid out with coves, points, shoreline laydowns, docks, and a rock dam which made it look so fishy. Big Lake from the road looked deeper than it really was. It's currently 3 feet low, and the middle of the lake was 5.5' with deepest around 8.9' on the NW part of the dam. There's hardly any fishable shoreline structures because most of them are out of the water. We scanned the middle, but there were little to no structures. Baitfish were galore all over the lake. We figured this was the main reason for the slow bite. The bass were gorged on food. A few bass caught either had a shad or bluegill down their throat. Most of the fish caught weighed from .5 to 1.5 pounds. They were short and fat. We managed to catch a really nice one with a picture added. The ramp looked really rough, but we unloaded and loaded a 21' fiberglass bb without a problem. Fished from 1230-6 pm. Water temp was around 85. Catching fish on plastics was unsuccessful. Got bites on them, but they never committed. All were caught on fast moving lures. It was a grind and we ended with 12 bass. Thank you owner and PWF!
