Reservation Number : 37079
Property Name : Malouf Lake
Reservation Date : 08/12/2023 AM -
Total Fish/Sizes : 5 to 2.5 lbs
Lures Used : Whopper Plopper, frog, chatterbait

Fished with my young granddaughter starting at dawn. She caught one quickly on a whopper Plopper near the launch ranp, about 2 pounds. Caught 3 more on a frog, all dinks. Fished topwaters along the north shore weed line - nothing. Noted fishe 12-15’ down so dragged a chatterbait and got one nice fish. Measure 19” so should have been about 4 pounds. Only weighed 2.4 pounds.
the wind had kicked up so bad my granddaughter said we should have brought a surfboard. LOL

We quit at 9:30 – too windy and not catching anything. Still fun to be out with one of my granddaughters. 😁

Try wacky on that damn outside grassline. I haven’t fished it since it got hot so maybe nothings working well, but I’ve always caught out on those outside grasslines with a wacky or paddletail.

I went recently and the only thing that worked for me was slow rolling a weedless paddletail. I attached a rudementary drawing of where I had all the success. Nowhere else in the entire lake produced anything for me. Red line represents the power lines, red circle is that tree on the edge of that cove, blue is the grass/mat line and the lime green in where you can see the drop off to the deeper section. All of the fish I caught were right in that area near the drop and just above hugging the grass line. One after another picking up bass for 3-4 fish then it was every 5-6 casts in that area. Altogether grabbed 15-20 bass – nothing of size to note though. Mostly in the 16-18” and 1.5-2.5 pounders.

Thanks, Alex. I did mark a lot of fish holding on the side of te drop off out from the north shore. The one “nice” bass I caught was dragging a chatterbait up the drop off.
