Fished Twin Oaks 7/31 AM from sunup to 10:00am. Of course it was hot, but I was surprised with a couple of things at the property. First, there was plenty of vegetation to fish against the bank, and on the bottom of the pond. But not nearly the vegetation overgrowth I’ve been accustomed to, especially in the shallow end, which was almost unfishable last summer. It really opens up the fishable area with limited vegetation on top. Another pleasant surprise was the pond was nearly full, which I didn’t expect because of the heat and recent lack of rain. We fished everything everywhere, but the only fish we caught (9 bass total) were dragging soft plastics along the bottom. This is a summer tactic that seems to work when nothing else will. Also, we only caught fish in the southeast quadrant of the pond (across from the launch to the right), and none of them near the bank. All the fish were bigger than 14” (2 – 3.5 lbs), which is amazing for a pond this small. The fish were sluggish, until they were hooked that is, then got pretty lively. All in all we had a great time, and look forward to coming back!
