Reservation Number : 36791
Property Name : Pecan Gap
Reservation Date : 07/10/2023 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 2 bass to 5.8 lbs. and 2 crappie 15+ inches
Lures Used : frogs, buzz-baits, drop-shots, spinnerbaits and worms

First trip to Pecan Gap for me and fellow member Travis Holland. It is a hot July day, temps 80 to 98, so we started early to light winds and good cloud cover. Water temp 85. We threw frogs/buzzbaits to start and as the sun got up, switched to drop-shots, spinnerbaits, and worms. We (Travis) caught 2 bass, a 5-8 on the dropshot and a healthy 3+ on a spinnerbait. Also caught 2 15+ inch crappie on jigs from the brush pile/hump area nearest to the dam. We also marked several good fish on Live Scope but could not get them to commit to a bait.

The entire lake looks fishy, with visible cover (trees and moss lines) and submerged features, (humps and brush piles) and 2 small creeks. The lake was near full capacity with scattered moss on or near the surface. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. The ramp and dock were easily accessible and in very good shape.

We met the owner and he shared that he has recently fertilized the lake to provide more stain to the water. Visibility was good to 2 to 3 feet. He also shared that he added F1 strain bass to the lake. And he expects the F1 fish to be 2 to 3 lbs. by next year. Thanks to PWF and the owner for making this beautiful fishing spot available to the club. From other recent reports, some big ones live here, and we plan to return and see if we can get 'em next time.  Tight Lines!

There are some big fish in there, it takes patience with this lake. One of the most challenging lakes in the club for sure. They are also good fighters as well.I also think some of the F1’s there are already 4lbs+ as they are eating machines and the land owner feeds them very well.

Doug – Glad you guys experienced Pecan Gap and Travis found one of their nice fish.  A 5.8 on a drop shot had to be fun for him!

John said it perfectly, Pecan Gap is on eof the more challenging but rewarding lakes in the club.  It looks fishy everywhere, but the fish can be super stubborn.  When they decide to play nice, they’re really healthy fish that fight great.
