I was excited to see Button Lake reopen and couldn’t wait to get out there and fish it. Arrived by 6:30 and on the water about 6:45. The lake is full and all of it is accessible. Some weeds here and there sticking up out of the water but other than that, that is it. Water visibility was about 18 inches or so. Water temp was in the mid to high 80s. Today was just one of those days. We threw everything at them in all varieties of colors but couldn’t get any bites whatsoever. Spooks, Pop-Rs, Buzzbaits, Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, Lipless, Crankbaits, Wacky Worm, TX Rig, you name it, we threw it. About 11:30 and still no bites, we decided to call it a day and only fish a half day. The wind was beating us up pretty bad too. Working our way back to the truck, my uncle finally beat the skunk with about a 1.5 pounder or so. Per previous reports, I can confirm the lake is fishing tough. Thinking back to when we had great success here, it was once in October and again in February. The lake is relatively shallow (8 foot was the deepest we saw), I think it may just be one of those lakes that fishes tough in the summer.
