What a lake! My brother-in-law and I fished from sunup until almost sundown on May 27 with a three to four hour break midday. Mostly cloudy, high around 80, water temp in the low eighties. Weeds were under control and the lake seems about full. The bass were very excited to attack topwaters, and we had great fun trying to horse them in back in the timber. We caught bass all over the lake and used chatterbaits, paddling toads, buzzbaits, and swim jigs. Swim jigs probably produced the best. We caught one 3.8-pounder with a hollow-body frog (not ours) stuck in his throat and completely blocking it, so we carefully removed it (it’s hanging in my shop right now as a souvenir) and saved his life, I suppose. The bass all day ranged from 12” to 4lbs, and the vast majority were 2 to 3.5lb chunks that fought like there was no tomorrow. Our final count was 104, and we culled only 12 those. Awesome lake and a beautiful place to be!
