Had to take advantage of the water being up at Twin Oaks, and it’s the highest I’ve ever fished there.  First cast with a frog caught a 2.5 at 6:15am, and another 2.5 two casts later.  Caught several on topwater, but the highlight was catching a 3.5 with an old white Heddon Chugger Spook, which belonged to my dad.  I’m sure he fished with it before I was born, over 60 years ago.  Man, those old lures hold up well.  I know a lot of people would say I should frame those old lures, but my dad would say I should be out fishing with them.  Anyway, after the topwater bite cooled off, I caught some on plastics, mainly wacky worms.  Didn’t catch any on spinnerbait or chatterbait.  Most of the fish were caught a few feet from the weed edges.  Caught 15 fish betweeen 1.5 and 3.5 pounds in 4 hours of morning fishing, and only two culls, which is the norm at this property for me.  A lot of good quality fish in a small space.
