Portable depth finder to use on club jon boats

I would appreciate some feedback from members as to what they use for a depth finder when using the club’s jon boat.  I used to have a one piece “pole” portable depth finder that just clamped on the side of the boat (called a fishin buddy made by hummingbird) but it quit working and they don’t make them any more.  Any recommendations for something very portable would be greatly appreciated.

There is a short discussion in the July 23, 2017 edition. Not very long. I have a garmin portable that I use on the few occations I use a club boat. It is protable with a self contained battery and a suction cup. There are also brackets you can buy to mount on a boat. It gives me depth and water temp.

Good luck,

Steve

My best friend and I have been using the Deeper fish finders. I bought the Deeper Chirp this year. I love it.

Morning,

I use a Helix 8 mounted on a setup I got from fishfindermounts.com. They make mounts for virtually all sonar units on the market, with or without a battery platform. ( I use my trollling motor battery and so I have a mount without the battery platform; small, easy to clamp on the gunwale and “out of the way” when fishing.) They also have rubber feet for the clamps that help to get a vertical transducer mount on a Jon boat.
