Looking for some weekend fishing excitement!!

I know most of our lakes are off limit to fishing for blue gill but i understand there a select few where it is acceptable.  Anyone know of such a lake in the East Texas area?  Thanks.

Hi Reggie,

Fishing for them is NOT off limits, but keeping them is off limits. Ben Wheeler Twin Lakes has some nice gills.

Thx Steve,

For clarification purposes, in the FAQ section, it states that "most of our lakes are managed for bass fishing.  We can recommend the better blue gill, crappie and catfish lakes."  Are the recommended lakes ones that have good blue gill, crappie and catfish OR are the recommended lakes ones where you can harvest the blue gill, crappie and catfish?  I haven't seen any lakes that mention anything about harvesting blue gill and/or catfish.  Sorry, but i'm just trying to make sure of what i am reading.  Thanks.

Hi Reggie,

I see the confusion. We are first and foremost a bass fishing first club. You are welcome to fish for bluegill in any of our lakes. All our lakes have bluegill. So, bluegill are never off limits unless you intent to keep them. Bluegill are the backbone of bass forage for our lakes. We want to keep them in our lakes as they make lots of babies, which keep our bass fat and healthy.

You may harvest catfish and crappie at all lakes; unless otherwise stated. The property requirements section will tell you if you cannot remove catfish or crappie. I think there are only 2 lakes in the club where you can NOT remove catfish and or crappie.
