Bennett Lake or Boatwright

In late May I will be fishing three days. Since I live west of San Antonio, I plan to fish Post Oak the first day. Bennett and Boatwright are then fairly close. Since I have never fished either of these properties, which would be better?  Any info is greatly appreciated.

Also, looking for anyone who wants to join me

Boatwright is a beautiful lake, clear and tons of small baitfish swimming around, when i fished it last weekend, the road to the lake was iffy. i drive a ole 90 chevy 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive truck and i spun all the way from the gate to the lake, two deep mud holes along the way, but they were solid bottom.   The road has a good bottom, just the first 2 to 3 inches are just slush, and my M/S tires filled up and started spinning.  Highly recommend 4wd or like i will from now on , put mud grips on the back.  weeds were a problem in both lakes for me, i moved out and fished the weed lines and started to catch some harvesting fish.  Bennett is another beautiful lake with loads of catfish, i was catching those cats on chatterbaits along the dam.  Both lakes are full with all the rains every other day.  Will fish both lakes again, think i will chose Boatwright over Bennett, just from that feeling , the next trip will be different.

Good luck Bill,

Chris

After looking at the locations in the area, I am switching to Laneville. Still interested in having a fishing partner

Sorry for the late response, I agree with Chris' observations.  You will not be disappointed with any of the lakes you reference.  My experience at these lakes has been very positive.  I think you will find lots of fish in all of the lakes.  All of the lakes share a common set of features in that they are all very clear, all very beautiful and all have lots of numbers of fish.  I would say slight edge to Bennett in average fish size with some large fish mixed in.  Laneville is mostly small fish with a few lunkers mixed in and I have only fished Boatwright once but caught no large fish there when I fished it.

Bruce. Thanks

Since I am traveling from San Antonio, I like the lodging options at Laneville as I will need to store my kayak overnight.
