Travis Lake - 12-Acre Lake: Bass Fishing for Novices and Steady Action
Located in Whitesboro, Texas, just a short drive from Sherman and Gainesville, this 12-acre lake offers great fishing for anglers of all experience levels. With its fertile waters and abundant forage base, this lake is perfect for steady action and provides opportunities to catch bass, crappie, and catfish.
Lake Features:
- Depths: The lake reaches up to 16 feet near the dam, with a surrounding area around the dock that has depths to 11 feet.
- Habitat: The lake features shallow flats, deep holes, and is surrounded by water sedges along most of its perimeter, providing excellent fishing structure.
- Forage Base: A healthy population of bluegill serves as the primary food source for the fish, contributing to the lake's fertility.
- Fish Population: Most bass in the lake are in the 1-2 lb range, with occasional 4-5 lb fish. The largest bass recorded here weighed in at 8.5 lbs.

- You may keep all crappie and catfish.

- Travis Lake is located just 10 miles south of the Red River and is accessible via an all-weather ranch road lined with beautiful live oaks, adding to the scenic charm of the drive.
