45 minutes northeast of downtown Austin, just beyond the hustle and bustle of Austin proper, 5 miles south of Taylor is Tanner’s Lake. When full, Tanner’s Lake is 13 acres of water. Today there is about 5 acres of fishable water. The lake is surrounded with rush and lily pads that occupy most of the lake. The pads are dense and make that part of the lake not navigable by boat. However, by the Spring of 2025, and with the help of mother nature, with additional water, we plan to have most (not all) of the lily pads under control. You will be rewarded with great fishing in the remaining 5 acres. Electrofishing survey produced a very healthy bass population with lots of fat bass and some big ones.

The boat launch is a bit steep but certainly manageable for small boats (plastic boats, jon boats etc.). When the lake is full we plan to move the launch to a more gradual slope with rock. In the meantime, bring your own small boat or use one of the two 12 foot jon boats provided.

Please note that you can drive across the dam to turn around.

Requirements

Remove all bass 14" and under at this site - PLEASE DO NOT DISPOSE OF HARVEST FISH ON PROPERTY, PLEASE TAKE THEM WITH YOU. Report the total number of each species removed, back to the club office through the online reservation system after your outing.
