Salt Lick Lake – 50 Miles East of Dallas

This stunning 17-acre rock quarry lake offers an excellent fishing experience just 50 miles east of downtown Dallas. The property, surrounded by numerous quarry lakes, has been carefully improved by the landowner to create a healthy, thriving ecosystem for bass and crappie. With consistent stocking of baitfish, particularly threadfin shad, the lake has developed into a top-tier fishing destination.

Lake Features:

  • Size: 17 acres, perfect for a full day of fishing.
  • Depths: The lake has a variety of depths, with 30 feet being the maximum. A 3-5 foot grass line encircles the perimeter, which is a key feature for fish activity.
  • Structure: Electronics will help you locate large boulders and other structures at the bottom of the lake. Additionally, the old pond dam along the east side holds significant fish populations, particularly bass.
  • Fish Species: The lake boasts a healthy population of bass, with an emphasis on bass from 2-5 lbs, and also contains huge crappie.

Fishing Guidelines:

  • Mandatory Harvest:
    • Remove all bass 14" and under from the lake.
    • Remove all crappie under 2 lbs.
    • You must report the number of each species removed through the online reservation system after your outing.
  • No 1/2 Day Rates: This property requires a full-day reservation. No half-day rates are available.

Access and Location:

  • Gate and Property: Please be mindful of the map included with your reservation, as there are multiple lakes in the area. You are only permitted to fish on the lake for which you have a reservation. Ignorance of this rule may result in the termination of your membership. Make sure you're at the correct gate/road before calling the office if you're unsure of your location.

Fishing Experience:

This lake is perfect for anglers looking for consistent action, with well-established bass and plenty of crappie to target. The habitat improvements and forage base ensure strong fish growth, particularly for larger bass and trophy crappie.

Requirements


  • The entry gate is next to a residence, please be respectful of their privacy and make your way to and from the lake as quickly and quietly as possible. If you are meeting someone at the lake, please meet at the lake itself or on the County Road vs the gate.

  • There are no 1/2 day rates availble at this property.

  • Take all trash with you. Clean boat of all trash including your used soft plastics.

  • MANDATORY!!! Remove all bass 14" and under at this site. Report the total number of each species removed, back to the club office through the online reservation system after your outing. Also, please remove all crappie under 2lbs.

  • Please note there are many lakes on this property and surrounding property. Your reservation is for this lake only. YOU MAY NOT FISH ANY OTHER LAKE. IGNORANCE OF THIS RULE IS NOT AN EXCUSE. IF YOU ARE FISHING ON THE OTHER LAKES YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL BE TERMINATED.
