Please note that this lake rises and falls quickly, like most soil conservation lakes. Please remember to lift boat up to dry ground and tie it to a tree.PLEASE DO NOT DRAG BOAT ON CONCRETE RAMP.

This Ellis County 15 acre soil conservation lake sits just a few miles from Italy Texas and 40 miles south of Downtown Dallas and 60 miles south of Downtown Fort Worth. Ellis County is known for flat, black agriculture farming land with just a few trees sprinkled here and there. One of the many things that makes this lake unique is that this ranch sits on rolling hills with lots of trees, making you think there is no way this place is in Ellis County.

The lake was built in the 1960s and has depths up to 19 feet. Much of the deep water is situated on the West side of the lake which is surprisingly deep. Cedar trees have been sunk into 9 large brush piles. Most of these piles are marked with PVC. The lake has a natural fertility to the water which keeps the plankton alive and well for the threadfin shad that populate this lake. You will find very little vegetation in the lake which allows you to fish your entire tackle box. There is a long concrete boat launch that allows you to launch big boats even when the lake is 5 feet low.

DO NOT use the Green "Twin Troller" boat. But rather the 12 foot jon boat.
