A Fisherman’s Haven: Diverse Lakes and Big Catches Await

This property offers a range of lakes, from several smaller ones between 1/4 and 1/2 acre to a 3-acre lake, and the largest spanning 10 acres, built in 2006. The main lake was carefully stocked with coppernose bluegill, redear sunfish, and fathead minnows in the spring, followed by bass in the fall, using the latest in fisheries management practices. A windmill-powered aeration system promotes fish health, and the lake benefits from ongoing fertilization and feeding programs, already yielding several bass over 9 lbs since its 2007 stocking. The smaller ponds on the property also hold fish.

With its open landscape, the main lake can be challenging to fish on windy days. Boats can be launched from the spillway of the largest lake or a secondary area about a quarter of the way down. When using the concrete spillway, please drive slowly and enter at an angle, as lower-profile vehicles may bottom out.

Please do not touch the fish feeders.

For nearby dining, My Estella Mexican Restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices. For a quick lunch, Honey Bee Coffee and Sandwiches is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both are located on Old Main Street in downtown Howe.

Requirements

• Do Not Touch the Fish Feeder: Please avoid handling the fish feeder. We have lost two lids recently.

• Mandatory Harvest: Remove all bass 14 inches and under. Report the total number of each species removed back to the club office via the online reservation system after your outing.

• Fishing Hours During Duck Season: Fishing is available PM Only during duck season.

Boat Launching Precautions: Exercise caution when launching a boat from the spillway, especially in low water conditions.
