Heartland 10-10 Ranch: Homeplace - Marshall, Texas

This 2,000-acre ranch offers a truly unique fishing experience with four incredible lakes, each over 35 acres and carefully managed for trophy bass since their creation. The largest lake, Homeplace Lake, spans 45 acres and was constructed in 2008 alongside Beaver Lake. This premier fishery features depths of up to 18 feet and has already produced bass over 10 pounds, with the current lake record at a remarkable 13.71 pounds (as seen in the provided photo).

Challenging Fishing Conditions:
Homeplace Lake offers dense cover, with nearly a quarter of the lake being inaccessible. This makes it a challenging but rewarding location for anglers seeking big fish. Due to these conditions, light tackle isn't suitable here—it's recommended to use 65 lb braided line, 20 lb fluorocarbon, or 25 lb monofilament for the best results.

Boating and Equipment:
An 18-foot all-aluminum boat is provided, complete with a live well, foot-controlled trolling motor, and a robust four-battery system. Two batteries power a 24-volt system, ensuring you can stay on the water all day. There are six such boats available on the property, and additional boats can be relocated to Homeplace Lake if necessary, depending on availability.

Lodging and Reservations:

The ranch offers two on-site lodging options, requiring a separate reservation. However, when all four lakes are reserved, lodging is limited to two groups. Alternatively, there are multiple motels located in nearby Marshall, less than 10 miles away.

Reservation Details:

  • A two-adult minimum is required to fish on the site.
  • You may fish multiple lakes during your visit, but each lake requires a separate reservation and fee. For example, to fish Homeplace Lake in the morning and Beaver Lake in the afternoon, you’ll need to book both an AM and PM reservation.
  • For groups of five or more, you may reserve two lakes, ideally those situated near each other.

Each lake is expansive and filled with dense cover, providing plenty of action for a full day’s fishing. If you’re seeking a thrilling challenge with the opportunity to catch trophy-sized bass, this ranch is an ideal destination!

Requirements


  • You must fish only the lake you reserve. Driving around the ranch is prohibited as it is an active whitetail breeding and hunting site.

  • Exercise caution to avoid damaging driving paths.

  • All bass 15 inches and under must be removed from the lake.

  • Report the number of each species removed to the club office through the online reservation system after your outing.

  • Two-adult minimum is required to fish this site.

  • No half-day reservations are allowed unless you book a full day first.

  • Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance for fishing and 48 hours in advance for lodging.

  • Check-in: 3:00 P.M.

  • Check-out: 12:00 P.M.

  • Take all trash accumulated during your visit with you when you leave.

  • No outside boats are permitted.

  • Do not throw fishing lines or soft plastics into the lake; dispose of them responsibly.

  • To bring the trolling motor back up, step on the bracket mount to relieve tension on the locking mechanism.
