Looking to land a true trophy bass? Gilmer Hat and Star Lake, a beautiful 21-acre private lake established in 1986, is renowned for its record-breaking catches. With dozens of 10-pounders pulled from its waters annually, including a massive 15.4-pounder in 2006, this lake offers a prime chance for anglers seeking big bass.

But this lake requires a special commitment. To keep it in top shape for trophy fishing, we ask all anglers to remove bass 16" and under during each trip and report their harvest on our club website. This management approach helps maintain a balanced ecosystem and increases the likelihood of more giant catches for everyone.

The lake features diverse terrain, with creek channels, deep pockets (up to 32 feet), points, and timber, giving you a range of spots to target the big fish. Whether you’re casting along the shore or in deeper water, Gilmer Hat and Star offers a serious chance to hook your personal best. If you’re ready for a real fishing experience and understand that the big ones don’t bite every day, this lake is ready for you!

Requirements

• Mandatory Fish Removal: Remove all bass under 14 inches and all crappie. After your outing, report the total count of each species removed to the club office through the online harvest report system.

Lodging Info

  • In early 2022 the owner built a nice new cabin for our members to use for lodging at this great lake!  There is a living area with a bunk bed and a separate bedroom with a queen bed.

    There is an enclosed shower house and bathroom about 50 feet from the cabin for you to use.  The owner plans to connect it with the cabin at some point in the future but for now they are separate buildings.
