Harding Lake Overview

Location:
Conveniently located centrally between Dallas, Austin/San Antonio, and Houston, Harding Lake is a 20-acre lake on a beautiful ranch just east of Fairfield, Texas. It offers excellent fishing opportunities for members from major Texas markets.

Lake Features:
  • Size: 20 acres
  • Electrofishing Survey: The lake has a healthy bass population with many fish over 3 lbs, and an abundant forage base of bluegill.
  • Fishing Access:
    • Bank fishing is limited due to the presence of cattails around most of the lake.
    • Dock and Pontoon Boat: A 2-person pontoon boat is available for use, though it’s recommended to have a 40 lb thrust trolling motor or larger to maneuver the boat.
    • Kayaks and Small Plastic Boats: These can be hand launched but must be small enough to be launched manually.
  • Harvesting: It is mandatory to remove all bass under 14 inches, along with any crappie and catfish caught.
Access:
  • There is a great concrete road leading to the lake, past a large house. Members are advised to follow directions closely and drive slowly to ensure smooth travel to the lake.

Lodging Options:
Harding Lake offers two wonderful lodging options that include fishing access. All lodging reservations must be made through the club office (currently not available for online booking).

Option #1: Lake Lodge
  • Description: A beautiful, fully equipped 2-bedroom lodge overlooking Red Lake. It offers a spacious living area, an outdoor kitchen, and plenty of amenities for a comfortable stay.
  • Bedroom 1: Features two queen-sized beds, large walk-in closets, a full bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a cozy sitting area with a fireplace and TV. The sitting area opens to the back porch.
  • Bedroom 2: Includes a queen-sized bed, large walk-in closet, TV, and a full bathroom (accessible from the main living area).
  • Amenities: Spacious outdoor patio, full kitchen, outdoor kitchen, and more.
  • Reservation Details:
    • There is a 2 night, 3 fishing day, 3 person MINIMUM to stay here. The price for each person is $850.
    • Includes use of 1 small plastic boat (per 2 people) with battery and trolling motor.
    • Access to both Red Lake and Harding Lake (if available).
Option #2: Hill Top Single Room Cabin
  • Description: A cozy single-room cabin situated above the large lodge with a fully equipped kitchen and two sets of bunk beds.
  • Amenities: All necessary kitchen supplies and a cozy environment for a relaxing stay.
  • Reservation Details:
    • Fish and Stay at the Hill Top Single Room Cabin for 3 days of fishing, 2 nights of lodging, 2 person minimum to stay here. The price is $750 per person.
    • Includes use of 1 Pond Prowler (a 2-man plastic boat) with battery and trolling motor.
    • Access to both Red Lake and Harding Lake (from sunrise to sunset for 3 days).
    • 48-hour advance notice is required to make a reservation.
Important Notes:
  • Booking Lodging: All lodging reservations must be made directly through the club office.
  • Fishing: Both lodging options provide access to both lakes for fishing during the stay.
  • Road Conditions: Members should follow the directions closely to ensure safe access to the lakes.
