Cordo Lake - Fishing Overview

3/4/2025 - heavy winds have destroyed the bridge at Cordo Lake - the ramp is closed for launching boats while they clear debris.  Will keep you posted on further updates

Location:
Cordo Lake is a 10-acre lake situated just 2 miles outside Ladonia, approximately 65 miles NE of Plano. The lake is surrounded by scenic beauty and offers a peaceful fishing experience just a short drive from the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

Lake Details:

  • Age: The lake is 40 years old and is designed in the shape of Texas, adding a unique feature to its layout.
  • Structure: The lake contains a mix of standing timber, both above and below the water, and has a depth of 20 feet in many areas, providing great habitats for fish.
  • Fishing Features:
    • A bridge spans across the entire width of the lake, allowing easy access for anglers.
    • A 48-foot floating dock with a casting platform offers great access to the timber and deeper parts of the lake.

Fishery Management:

  • Bass: The owners are dedicated to growing large bass, adding two fish feeders and thousands of bluegill as forage for the bass.
  • Fish Population: The lake contains a large population of bass, particularly in the 14-15 inch range, which must be harvested. Giant crappie and catfish are also present, and you are allowed to keep all crappie and catfish caught.

Boating Options:

  • There is a 14-foot flat-bottom jon boat available for member use.
  • Additionally, three Ultra Skiffs are available, allowing one person per skiff for better mobility around the lake.

Access and Terrain:

  • Once through the gate, you will need to drive slowly down a well-manicured pasture to reach the boat launch area.
  • The bridge crossing the lake offers a 4-5 foot clearance, so you may need to duck when passing under to reach the bulk of the lake.

Camping and Amenities:

  • Camping: Electricity is available across the island, making it a great spot for camping.
  • Wi-Fi: For those who need to stay connected, Wi-Fi is available across the entire lake. The network name is "Cordo-Guest", and the password is the same as the network name, offering easy access for members.

Fishing Regulations:

  • Mandatory Harvest: It is required to remove all bass 15 inches and under from the lake.
  • Reporting: After your outing, you must report the total number of bass, crappie, and catfish removed through the online reservation system.
