Bremmond lake - A south Texas fishing experience

Located just 49 miles from the state capital, Hackamore Ranch offers exceptional fishing experiences across several ponds and lakes. The signature lake, Bremmond Lake, stands out as a prime bass fishing destination, with concentrations of bass over 5 lbs that rank among the best surveyed. Members will enjoy fishing in a serene, well-maintained environment perfect for targeting quality fish.

Lake Features:

  • Bremmond Lake:
    • Size: The lake fluctuates between 10 acres when low to nearly 20 acres when full. The average size of the lake is around 18 acres.
    • Bass Population: Bremmond Lake is home to a high density of bass in the 4-6 lb range, with many fish likely to exceed 7 lbs. It’s one of the largest concentrations of bass over 5 lbs in the region, making it an exciting spot for anglers targeting bigger fish.
    • Timber: Around 30% of the lake is covered in timber, providing numerous opportunities for anglers to target bass hiding near the trees. It's an adrenaline-pumping experience to pitch baits near each tree in anticipation of a catch.

  • Access: The lake’s landscape and terrain add to the excitement of fishing, but members should be prepared to handle potentially variable water levels, as the lake can fluctuate in size depending on rainfall.

Fishing Experience:

  • Boat Access: The lake provides a 12-foot jon boat (12' long, 42" wide) that is stable and ideal for smaller vessels. This boat is great for exploring various areas of the lake.
    • Boat Launch: A rock ramp is available to launch aluminum boats up to 16-17 feet. It’s important to have 4WD for easier launching, especially when conditions are wet.
  • Second Lake: Please note that there is a second lake on the property, but it is not part of your reservation. After following CR 446 for about 3/10 of a mile, you will see a Private Water Fishing sign at a 90-degree turn. Keep going, as the lake you have reserved is located 6/10 of a mile further down the road on your right.

Important Rules:

  • Gate Access: There are gates leading to the lake, and it’s important to lock and latch the gate properly after use. Failure to do so could result in cows escaping from the property. If this occurs, your membership will be terminated.

  • Respect the Property: Please ensure that all rules are followed to ensure the ranch’s operations run smoothly and the fishery remains in top condition.

Requirements


  • MANDATORY!!! Remove all bass 14" and under at this site. Report the total number of each species removed, back to the club office through the online reservation system after your outing.

  • Take all trash with you. Clean boat of all trash including your used soft plastics.
