This 55-acre lake sits on a 2100 acre ranch only 70 miles NW of downtown Fort Worth. This lake may be the most secluded lake in the entire club. The lake runs North and South and is long and narrow making the lake fish larger than its actual size. The lake sits back more than a mile from the gate and is truly a beauty with its cliffs, rocks, oaks, and elms. The lake has depths of 30 feet in the south end and the north fifth of the lake is only 1 to 2 feet deep. The water is turbid, usually about 10- 15 inches. You will think it is 6 inches so be prepared. The lake is loaded with common carp, which is why the lake is turbid/muddy. This is good news and bad news. The bad news is that the carp have hurt the bass recruitment and because the carp are looking for any vegetation to eat they have stirred up the bottom, making the lake turbid. The good news is, while the lake has low numbers of bass, the bass that are there tend to be way above weight, with the predominant size of bass larger than most PWF lakes. The fish probably average 3 lbs. There is little to no vegetation in the lake, making it easy to throw treble hook-type baits without the fear of getting hung up. In 2012 there was a 13.2 lb bass caught.

There is a picnic area on the east side of the lake about 300-400 yards from the dam. This property would be a top choice for tent campers. There is a path all the way around the lake that is extremely scenic. You are welcome to walk all the way around the lake. Bank fishing is limited but, there is a 12ft v-hull for members to use. The lake is 1.7 miles from the gate entrance and is a rough road that you will want a truck or SUV (smaller SUVs should be fine) to access. 4 wheel drive is NOT necessary, but having a low-profile car will not work. This lake is perfect for someone looking to get away from it all.

*** About 3 to 4 times a year the owners neighbor fishes the lake unannounced. We regret that this might be on a day you are fishing. He does not use the club boat. It is rare that he is here the day you have booked. But, please know that this may happen.

***DO NOT HARVEST ANY BASS AT THIS SITE. You may still remove any crappie, carp, and catfish caught and report them to the club office through the online reservation system after your outing***

Requirements

Rough road. Smaller or luxury cars not recommended. Ground clearance is needed, SUVs will be fine. The road back to the lake is long with several cut backs and several other roads crossing the path to the lake. Do not bring boats larger than 17 feet as making the trip to the lake with a trailer in tow would be difficult around a couple of turns. It takes at least 10-15 minutes once you access the gate.

***DO NOT HARVEST ANY BASS AT THIS SITE. You may still remove any crappie and catfish caught and report them to the club office through the online reservation system after your outing***

DO NOT APPROACH ANY DEER STANDS OR FEEDERS. STAY AT LEAST 100 FEET FROM ANY STANDS OR FEEDERS. THERE ARE GAME CAMERAS AND YOU WILL BE CAUGHT. IF CAUGHT YOUR MEMBERSHIP COULD BE REVOKED.

General Directions

1 hour and 15 minutes NW of Downtown Fort Worth. Half way between Jacksboro and Bowie.
