Date Posted: 12/13/2016
PWF is happy to announce the opening of a new property just south of Austin in Kyle, TX. Kyle - Brushy Creek Lake is 35 acres, and only a short drive from both Austin (30 minutes) and San Antonio (1 hour). The lake is only a mile off of I-35, so getting there is a breeze.  Survey results showed a good population of bass, with many solid fish in the 2.5 - 3.5 pound range. The lake record bass is over 12 lbs, and there is a strong forage base with Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, and lots of Gizzard Shad.

Adding Habitat to PWF Lakes

Date Posted: 2/4/2016
Great habitat is one of the 5 keys to growing bass. The other 4 are water quality, food chain, genetics and harvest. Typically, we add structure to create habitat. This generally comes in two forms: an artificial product called Mossback Fish Attractors, or trees like Eastern Red Cedars. These structures are designed to create areas for bait fish to hide while creating ambush points for bass to attack. If bait fish (Bluegill/Redear Sunfish) have a place to hide and relax, they will make more babies; more babies means more food, and more food means bigger bass. While artificial habitat can…

Mexico Bass Fishing

Date Posted: 7/15/2015
We are off again to Mexico for a little fishing, but this time we have changed it up a little. 16 of us are going on a 5 day trip, as opposed to a typical 3 or 4 day trip. Why 5 days? Quite frankly, it is a much better value. Fishing for 3 days is $1595, while fishing for 5 days is $2195. Please note that this is your trip, and if you want to rest one afternoon or quit a few hours early, you are welcome to do so. After all, fishing is meant to be fun! We…

Peacock Bass Fishing

Date Posted: 7/15/2015
September of 2014 fourteen of us made the trek to Manaus, Brazil to fish for the famous Peacock Bass. After 7 days of fishing, we landed over 700 fish with 51 over 10 lbs, 15 over 15 lbs, and 3 over 20 lbs. We are headed back again during a similar time frame. I booked this trip 18 months ago, thus I could choose any date I wanted as I was the first booking for 2016. The week I chose, September 23rd to October 2nd 2016,  has been the most consistent week each year for more than 20+ years. Ron…

Private Water Fishing Goes to Thailand

Date Posted: 7/14/2015
Thailand: Spicy Food, Elephants, and Giant Fish In mid June, my extending family and I (10 of us) took a vacation to Thailand. We had planned the trip for over a year, and it was to be a trip of a lifetime. We spent 14 days in a part of the world I had never been. I had more curry, vegetables, and spicy stuff in 2 weeks than I normally would over the course of a year. We spent 3 days in Bangkok (17 million people), 5 days in the jungle area of Chaing Mai, and 5 days on a…
