Number of fish caught: about 35, sizes most 2 to 4 lbs, 3 culls
Baits: Firecraw chatter bait with a green/pumkin vile bug trailer, brush hog, chrome/blue rattle trap, chrome stick bait, green/pumkin jig with a green vile craw trailer
Conditions: Water clear to 3 feet, wind gusting up to 20 mph, partly cloudy, up to 75 degrees

It was our first trip to Wills Point Salt Lick, a quary lake with plenty of deep water and lots of strong, healthy bass. We started around 8:30 am and left around 4:00pm. The vast majority of fish were caught on the chatter bait, working around banks, sometimes throwing into very shallow water. Most fish were quite strong, in the 2 ½ lb range. I think we caught around 10 in the 3 to 4lb range and every time it was a fight. We also lost a few, one probably around 4 ½ lbs. At times the wind drove us into the protected cove where the old pond dam is. The bite was fairly steady throughout the morning, when about 25 of the fish were caught. The afternoon slowed but there were a couple of flurries where nice bass were still caught in quick succession. Overall, a great day, and another great lake to appreciate. There’s some significant algae and moss in the shallows and on the bottom, which presents a challenge as well a lot of bait cleaning in between casts, but the lake itself was very healthy. We would like to come back!
