Brought a guest to the Hopkins pair of lakes, hadn’t been in months.  Water down 2-3 feet, but still very fishable in these flooded creek-lakes.  Had a pretty typical morning for these ponds – good numbers, not much size.  Started the morning on the first pond, and had good action with 3’ deep sexy shad cranks, then as morning progressed a little deeper with bone & crawdad colored wiggle wart cranks (6’ deep).  Caught 18 on the first pond – all under a pound.  Not sure why there’s not a slot limit on this pond?

We moved to second pond mid-morning, sun was up over the trees and fish started biting our cranks right away, caught 13 more on this pond before noon – with 4 or 5 in the 2-3 pound range.  Biggest fish about 3.5 pounds.

Again, lots of action for a windy day – so that was fun for my guest who doesnt fish much.  Just wish there was a little more size.
