Hey members, I’m looking for a partner to fish this weekend or next weekend for a big fish. I’m in the big bass pot and struck out at Seagoville a couple of weeks ago. Rules state a witness is required to win. I can be a witness or be witnessed, both would be best. I’ve been fishing 2 or 3 days a week for the last 4 weeks around the metroplex north and south and I have not even seen a bed yet. Fishing has been super slow where I have been scouting like winter slow. They should turn on any day now and I would like to be there. The waters I’ve looked at lately other than Seagoville, are small but clear and warm slowly. I’m sure darker water has warmed up and the spawn started on the last full moon. I do not have a location in mind as I’m not experienced in club waters yet, however, prespawn and big fish is the objective. my email is brian.akers67@gmail.com if your interested.

hey brian, just an opinion that may or may not help you. from what i seen this year the spawn was over around mid march. i have noticed these smaller lakes finish earlier. i have been having excellent fishing trips fishing post spawn, and havent spent any time searching for beds. try fishing by backing off the banks and throw a slugo or bass assasin, and twitch them around, at about 1ft below the surface. also you might want to try lake leon, well worth the drive,. good luck and hope backing off the banks, a little, will help. and dont forget to try twitching those suspending baits.  phillip

Brian,

We are most likely in a spawn and post spawn pattern right now and most club lakes are producing very well. Besides the usual suspects of San Saba, Oakwood, and Grapeland, fisheries like Fairfield, Decatur, Ben Wheeler, Crockett and Leesburg are red hot. We have had very little pressure on previous popular lakes, like Canton Kickapoo, Seagoville Turf Tanks, Bonham Flag Springs, and Kaufman Ashworth Farms.

A lake that we added last year, Canton Parker Branch has had little pressure and produces lots of fish in the 2-3 lb class. Probably won’t catch a 5 lb fish, but lots of those strong 2-3 lb fish.

Brian,

Thanks for asking for a partner. We have some incredibly nice members who are extremely knowledgable. Moreover, we are having a club harvest and fish fry Saturday, May 1st at Cleburne Six-O-Ranch. What a great opportunity to meet some other fisherman. You can’t have too many fishing friends! We have been discussing the option of adding a partner finder section to our web-site. Members, would you use this tool?

I think it’s a good idea, but I wouldn’t have a need for it. I am sure there are some that would though.

I’m sighed up for the Cleburne fish harvest and would like to see the partner finder section added to the site. Steve that would be a great tool for members who are new or have limited experience at club sites. Thanks for the reply Phillip, I can’t believe I missed it, I tore em up last year and I’ve been fishing frequently since Feb. Wednesday I was catching Kentucky bass out of Grapevine shallow full of eggs, today I went to a private lake in Irving and caught 6 fish hours after a cold front, 3 of those fish had eggs and 1 female was spawned out. I caught two bucks and their tails were not worn at all. I have to tell you I was using a Berkly black blue flake Chigger Craw and had a hit that stripped drag instantly and after several minutes of nothing but boils in the water I caught a flat head cat fish that was as long as my leg. 25 lbs give or take, that’s a first. Any way I haven’t seen an old bed or a new bed and I’m still catching some fish with eggs and some without, some crappie gurus I know are just now getting them. I’m lost as far as this years spawn goes, I’m fishing six bodies of water that were loaded with beds and big females last year that have shown no signs of anything this year. I’ll be glad when it’s over and I can just get to summer patterns.
