water levels low as pictured, but we arrived just after sunrise and managed to get the 19’ aluminum ranger in and out utilizing 4 wheel drive. rear wheel drive would’nt have made it, as the back tires had to enter the more muddy water to get the boat out, although the ramp is great and when the levels rise, no issues even with a large fiberglass boat im sure. fishing started slow as we hit the tree/dam area to start with topwater and moving baits, but the bass just weren’t eating them, from the frog and buzzbait, cranks, jerkbaits, etc…. managed to pull one out of open water on the jerkbait near the trees and that was it.

The rest of the fish were caught on a Ned Rigged grub bait, or Texas rigged worm/creature bait just letting it hit bottom and dead sticking, often times getting picked up off the drop and first lift of the rod. nothing hit along the bank at all, even before it got hot. check the picture below for the catch region. essentially we were drifting down the northwest bank about 20 feet from the rockwall, and fan casting further out away from the bank where all the fish were hiding.

no doubts we could have ended the day at 20-30+ fish, but our trolling motor stopped working for about 45 minutes until we got the issue resolved, and then we decided to split once it started getting hot, so all in all, about 4 hours on the water, 1.5 of which was just fiddling with the trolling motor and dialing the fish in, and then it was GAME ON!
