My hunting lease is near Ladonia so I didn’t even need to look at the directions for this lake.  Beautiful lake that you can see from Highway 34 which is the road from Commerce to Honey Grove.  The bridge over the new lake Ralph Hall is just another mile down the highway.  I had a few minutes of trouble launching the boat.  Vegetation is thick at the ramp area.   Had a good wrestle trying to get the trolling motor down and cleared enough to work.  My partner was late so I launched the boat alone.  I had boated three bass before he arrived.  The grass was generally about a foot below the surface so flukes, wacky and swimbaits were the options.  Topwater wasn’t working.  I tried to a swim jig in the deeper areas but no takers.  Brad caught one bass at almost 4-½ lbs near the trees in the middle.  All of the rest of the bass were right at 15 inches plus or minus a ½ inch.  We ended up culling 27 bass.  We did have one cull jump from the livewell and back into the lake.  Impressive leap.  Other than the lake is almost topped out with grass, its a really nice lake.  You can see the potental.  We saw Top Gun II as a famliy Saturday night.  Best movie I have seen in a long time.  Higly recommend to see it in the theater.
