My wife and I enjoyed another great day at Hickory Creek, this property is amazing. We arrived at around 8:30 am and had crappie in our crosshairs for the day. My wife caught a 2 lbs bass from the pier and slab crappie while I was getting the boat ready. We put in around 9:00 am and headed across the lake to the southeast cove where we had caught crappie in the past, no real action. However, we were entertained by the Bald Eagles and the nest of Ealgets! We could hear the babies quite clearly when the parent birds would fly toward the nest, very cool. We followed the west bank toward the island and caught a few along the way. We reached the island around 11:00 am and I hit the spot lock just a little south of the island near the west bank. I didn’t move the boat until 12:20. We fan cast around the west and south side of the island and caught fish for a solid hour and a half, it was a blast! The wind got us to 16 mph with gusts around 25 mph at this point. I moved to the east side of the island hit the spot lock and it started all over again. We caught fish after fish; 44 slab crappie and 24 bass up to 4.0 lbs. (only 9 culls removed). We got tired of fighting the wind, so I moved toward the southeast cove and dam area. We picked up a few more bass and then called it a day around 3:30 pm. We have been fishing Hickory Creek since becoming members of PWF in 2019. The owner Mr. Wade is very nice and has made his way down to the lake to speak to us every time we have fished his lake. This is a very peaceful place that is beautiful, well maintained, and properly managed. The size and quality of bass have improved dramatically over the last 3 years. If you are looking for a place to take your family, Hickory Creek, will not disappoint, even if the fish are not biting. Thank You, Mr. Wade, for sharing it with us.
