On Saturday, March 19th I got to Sandy Creek a little late due to a train outside of Winnesboro that didn’t move for 20 minutes. Got on the first lake at 8:30 to steam rising off the lake due to 37 degree outside temps and 57 degree water temp.  Didn’t attempt topwater, started with a swin jig and caught was would turn out to be biggest fish of the day at 3.8 in cove area to left of boat launch (always a productive area). Caught a 3.3 and three solid 2 pounders and five under two pounds using a swim jig, spinnerbait and TX rigged craw. Didn’t want flatsided crank. All the fish over 2 lbs were fat and healthy and fought hard. Moved to the third lake at 12:30, decided I couldn’t launch my 11 ft BassTender so I walked the bank with boots on fishing with a light spinning reel with a Ned rig and a fly rod with a white wolly bugger, caught around 30 small fish all over the lake. Was fun to watch them take the white fly. Off the lake at 3:00.  Great day to be out on the water on a very nice property.
