My son and I got on the water a little after 8am, 51 degree air temp, and 51 water temp. The winds were gusty at about 12 mph. We got off the water at about 2p after the winds were just howling at 20+ and we had an overcast most of the day. The first battery was dead before noon from fighting the wind. I think the air temp rose to about 65 or so by the time we left.
The fishing, let me start off by saying this place is special. Our best 5 went for 27.76 lbs. These fish wanted spinners. We threw various other baits but they reacted very well to the spinners. I did catch a few on a Bull Shad. My son was using a double blade chartreuse and white and I had a watermellon/orange with gold willow blades. They liked his best as he landed ¾ of the fish today. My biggest was 5.5 lbs and his biggest was 6.15. He also had a 5.85, 5.35, and a 5.04. Combined we caught (1) 6+, (4) 5+, (3-4) 3+, and several 2’s. Out of all the fish we caught, we only had one that was harvested. These fish are monsters! They are the chunkiest bass I think we have come across in the club in the 11 years we have been fishing here. They are eating well. This place is going to produce some giant bass in the upcoming years if they keep up at this pace.
As others have mentioned, fish the islands. We didnt get much going along the outsides of the lake, most were around piles, stick ups, and islands.
