Fellow member Erik Johnson and I fished Deer Trail for the first time on Sunday.  We where a little concerned about the amount of pressure this lake has received over the last couple of weeks, but the catching was steady all day.  We started around 7:30 and fished to around 2:30.  We caught 40+ between the two of us and only 1 dink culled.  The fish were like clones, beatiful dark 2-3 pounders, with a couple creeping up to the 3 3/4lbs range.  We could never find the big girls, but the fish we found were all fat and healthy.  Erik had most of his success on a Texas Rig and I primarily fished a chatter bait.  The Otter seemed to be doing pretty well for itself as well.  I did catch one bass that had a fresh wound with a pretty good chunk taken out of its back.  Not sure if this came from the resident otter or something else.  All in all one of the nicer properties we have fished and we will definetly be back.  I would assume the 2-3 pound fish will be closer to 3-4 pound fish come next spring.

Scott,

Water level and clarity both looked good.  Weeds were present, but very fishable.
