My daughter and I had a great time at the new Cordo lake even though the wind gusts were up to 25 mph. Getting to the lake was not a problem from the GPS link. Make sure to study the reservation property map to gage where to turn into the property since it was a grass driveway. There is no entry gate so be looking out for the PWF sign on the fence. There is no boat ramp so I launched my 14 ft jon boat & trailer from the shoreline around 1215 pm. It was quite windy so controlling the boat was tough. Water temps were 58-59 degrees and clarity was 1-2’. We ended up catching fish from the get go up in the cove across from the owner’s home with a spinnerbait. It was shallow but the fish were holding in the grass. Working out from the bridge, we ended up catching fish in 2’- 5’ in water along the grassy perimeter with the spinnerbait and shallow cranks. Fish were also holding along the dam. Caught them on shallow running cranks. Don’t forget the timber in the middle. I used a brushhog to pull bass and 1 crappie from the trees. All in all, fish were caught everywhere. Most were 1.5# to 3#. We ended catching 32 bass and 1 crappie. I think I started winding down around 5 pm because my daughter had grown frustrated with the high winds. She did fall in love with the sweet dog on the property. Anyways, Cordo lake is a perfect place to take the family if you’re looking to catch fish. Tie on a chartreuse/white spinnerbait or chatterbait and hang on. Thank you Cordo lake owner and PWF!
