What a day at Deer trail.
The day started off pretty steady with us catching them on paddle tail swimbaits , and topwater lures, which was wild with the water temps being in the low 50s. The morning bite was extremely shallow, literal inches of water. the bite slowed around 10 and we didnt really start finding them again until noon out near the dam. The dropshot was key around the timber and laydowns and even out deep. I ended up sitting on a school in about 18ft that every drop pulled one in. Average fish size was 2-2.5lb. We caught roughly 70 bass in total: 30 cullers and all of the rest 2lbers. no crappie or catfish. Overall GREAT day of cold weather fishing!

Nice work Brandon – people knock a drop shot for catching ‘small fish’ but it will crush a school of suspended fish. How long was your leader length in 18 feet of water – I feel like that is where I make my mistake with it – some people say short, some people say foot and a half.
