Fished Timber Lake for the first time on Sunday with fellow member Erik Johnson.  The Lake level seemed normal and the water clarity was pretty good (2-3 foot).  We started at first light hoping to take advantage of the top water bite.  The high pressure made us quickly change our tatics.  We saw nothing boiling or chasing bait on the surface.  Put the buzz baits up and threw a fluke for a bit.  Very little action on that pattern as well.  Finally slowed down and fished tight to the trees with Texas rigged worms.  We started catching some nice 2- 3 lbers pretty consisitantly.  Erik was throwing a dark green 5” straight tail and I was throwing a 10” pumpkin seed curl tail.  It didn’t seem to matter what type of worm, just that it needed to be bounced off the bottom.  Please heed the warnings that have been posted about this lake several times… use heavy tackle.  These fish are strong and the limbs and trees are abundant.  We stayed on this pattern until just after lunch.   The bite slowed for us around 2:00 so we wrapped it up and hit Backstory Brewery on the way home.  Great day on Timber Lake.
