Long but nice drive out west. Arrived around 8:30  or so to bright cloud free sky. Beautiful, calm and peaceful surroundings.  Met the landowner, Bill. Friendly gentleman. Asked if I needed any assistance. I drove around to the launch area and parked on the dam. Dragged my small boat off the truck and put it in the water. Not too difficult but there is no ramp or dock. 

I started with a frog and whopper plopper but was really too late. Nothing on those. Decided on a chatterbait and BINGO! IT WAS ON!!!

Steady action from then on.  I tried a crankbait but, nope. It was all about the chatterbait.  It rips through the grass real well. It's a shallow lake and no real cover for the fish besides grass. 

Of the 23 I caught  ...4 were dinks, 2 around 4 pounds and the rest were between 2 and 3 pounds. Of the 6 I lost 2 were probably bigger than 4. They launched out of the water and shook the hook.  

The fish were all over the lake. It's a very shallow lake with half of it only 2 to 4 feet deep. 9 feet was the deepest I saw. I would love to fish it topwater on a heavily overcast day. 

I will definitely be back, though.
