Pam and I fished Alysha Ranch for the first time on Saturday. Yep – it was breezy and warm. Lake was low (a few feet at least) – so the already shallow upper third was unfishable, but still plenty of fishable acreage. Water was 74F and murky with 10in of viz. We managed 24 bass up to 4.4lbs and 4 crappie (3 serious slabs). Of the bass, 10 were harvested (2 dinks, 8 @ 13.5in) of the 14 returned, 1 was 4+, 1 was 3+ and the remaining were 2+lbers. The bite was fairly active early in the AM and it was a grind after that – picking up one here and there, mostly off of the weedline, but the best one came away from shore in 6FOW. Most effective baits were: paddletail, swim jig, popper, frog, spinnerbait – with most productive color in green pumpkin and most effective presentation was s-l-o-w. We sure enjoyed our first visit to Alysha – the fishing was good, but overall it was just a nice relaxing day at a beautiful ranch. Yeah – spent our share of time in the boat, but I’m not ashamed to say it was interrupted by not one, but two shore naps – and some livestreaming of college football! Thanks PWF, we needed that!
