My wife and I fished Salt Lick on 8-21 all day. We arrived early (6:30) but didnt get on the water right away do to filming lazy cows in are way lol. This is def another beautiful property. As we were about to set off in our bass raider we looked down and could see 3-5 bass hugging the weed line in this crystal clear water. After trying many different lures to entice them to hit we couldnt so got our boat launched. We couldn’t seem to find any certain pattern or particluars lures they had interest in. Circling the lake counterclockwise we managed to pick off 15 fish total before leaving around 4:00 pm. We used crankbaits, smaller swimbaits, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, and rattle bots to catch one or two fish here and there. All of the fish we caught were extrmely healthy in that 2-3.5lb range and fought very well. One thing we did notice is these fish all have much smather mouths than any other property we have fished? This property is unlike any other in other ways as well. The water is incredbly clear and multiple time we saw packs of 5-7 Bass follow our lures to the boat. Fishing the Timber we could also look down and see groups hovered together, but couldn’t seem to get them to take anything. We spoke to the owner Eric on lunch break, and sounds like he is doing some intense management in the years to come so this lake will only get better. We can’t wait to come back when it isn’t quite so hot!
