Fished West lake with my son and wife on Saturday 4-3.  It was cloudy most of the day.  Air temps were in the 40’s in the morning when we got there.  The cool front must have put the bass to sleep a little bit.  It was very slow in the morning with only 1 small bass before 1:30pm. We tried just about everything we could and nothing worked.  We stopped to regroup and eat lunch and I saw what I assume was a fry guarder by the launch area and he was repeatedly blowing up on things.  So with that in mind we went out after lunch and pitched senkos up dirt shallow and picked up 11 fish.  A couple of 4lbs, 3 culls and the rest were just a little over 16”.  The sun also came out for a while after lunch, so I'm not sure if everything we caught were guarding fry or just coming up to get some sunlight and warm up.  But either way, we made an adjustment and got some bites.  This was my second trip to this lake.  I really enjoy it and I'm glad it's opened back up.
