Fished all three lakes at Trinity Lakes Saturday all with fly rods with Sean Polk from Tailwaters.  If you’re interested in fly fishing for bass - or anything else that swims- Sean and the folks at Tailwaters can set you up.

All the lakes had pretty clear water and the coon tail hasn’t taken off on these lakes yet. Sean said when he checked the water temp around noon it was 56 degrees.  We started slow and finished strong.  We fished Arrowhead from about 7 to 11 and either couldn’t find the fish or get them fired up - we only caught one bass each on Arrowhead.  We saw quite a few bass flushing out of the shallows on the side of the lake opposite the launch but just weren’t getting bites.  We waded and bank fished Goose lake from 11 to 1:30 and had a little better luck with 9 bass between us. Most over by the dam close to the fish feeder.  We finished on Comanche and did much better there fishing from about 2 to 5:30 and landed about 30 between us.  I was fishing with black rubber legged wooly buggers and Sean was fishing with his hand tied fancy guide flies.  These lakes are very fly rod friendly. Very few total dinks and most the bass were around two pounds with the biggest around about 2.75 pounds. On the fly rod plenty of fun.  I read some of the other reports from yesterday and last week and our lakes are putting on a hog show!  This is a great place to fish for numbers and good hard pulling bass but not so much for really big bass.  Met the owner (the wife) - she was riding her horse and had a nice visit with her and thanked her for letting us fish their beautiful property.  It was a great spring day and good to get to feel the drug of the tug today.
