After 5"+ of rain in the days before this trip, I was wondering how the lake would be. There was still a steady light rain in the morning when we arrived just before 8am. It rained on and off a couple times the rest of morning and remained overcast almost the whole day. Fished the small pond that flows into the lake with only one blow-up fist thing in morning. Caught one 15" bass on a frog from the bank near the club boat and missed a couple others. The lake was high by probably 12" with newly flooded weeds around most of shoreline. Overall the lake fished like other people reported recently, with fish being caught all over the lake. Caught most fish before noon and there seemed to be a significant slow down in the afternoon. We left by 5pm. Total 24 bass caught with 8 over the 14" minimum returned. Best fish was 3.5 lbs and several in the 2 to 3 lb range. The fish were caught in the submerged weeds (3 to 5 foot depth) fishing slowly with soft plastics Texas rig or wacky rig. Caught a few on topwater frogs early and then again later in day with popper.
