Water temps 54F throughout entire lake. Water level is up a few feet with most of the boat ramp under water. Good visibility around 2+ feet. Fished from 10:30am to 2:30pm and it was in the mid 50's with a 10mph North Wind and the sun did not come out at all until after we left the lake, so with the wind chill it felt pretty cold on the water. Despite the winds this lake is fairly protected so wind should not be a huge problem the majority of the time here. The fishing was slow. Started out throwing a suspending jerk bait and slow rolling an underspin fluke and saw a fish following the jerk bait to boat and some nibbles on the fluke right away in the area in front of the boat ramp...but no bites.....tried all over lake with Texas Rigged soft plastics, jerk bait, chatterbait….but nothing. Took a little break to warm up in the truck and went back out with small and slow presentation. Threw smaller 4" soft plastics on shaky head type weighted hooks and with no movement of the bait landed a couple small bass that were very cold and still in the area between boat ramp and the dock. My young son also had several bites but didn't land any because the "bite" was so subtle it really just felt like you were getting a little resistance from a weed...but that was the fish. Son was tired and cold so we bailed out. That afternoon the sun came out and would have been more enjoyable but we had other plans. Probably should have put a drop shot on and would have done alright here.
